Hello, and welcome to Tiny New Yorkies! Looking for a new furry addition to your family? You've found the perfect place! Our location is in New Albany, Indiana, just outside Kentucky and St. Louis, and within a convenient distance from Ohio.
Exploring the breed, one might ask what makes a Yorkie an appealing pet. Yorkies have an intriguing history, being sought after for their vibrant personalities that seem too large for their petite, fragile bodies.
It's interesting to note that the Yorkshire breed emerged from the crossbreeding of various breeds. Indeed, a number of breeds played a role in shaping this exquisite, dainty, and endearing creature. The breed's roots can be traced back to the mid-19th century in the northern English counties of Yorkshire and Lancashire.
Initially referred to as the Scotch Terrier, owing to its origins, the breed was renamed "Yorkie" by Angus Sutherland around 1861. Originally bred for the purpose of rat hunting, the Yorkshire Terrier swiftly became a cherished lap dog. Its diminutive stature and flowing locks have made it a treasured companion.
